This is your official confirmation letter for ALCiS The San Jose International Triathlon. This letter contains valuable information for participants of the San Jose International Triathlon. Please refer to www.japroductions.net for important updates closer to race day.

Thank you all for being a part of the greatest race weekend of the year! This will be the ultimate race weekend, full of fun and plenty of competition. Train hard, be safe and most importantly, have fun!!
You will enter the Park using the West Station Entrance - off of Almaden Expressway. The Park address is 6099 Winfield Blvd. San Jose, CA.
Confirmed Athletes: PACKET PICK-UP CANCELED
Please be advised as of June 4 - Due to measures outside our control; Packet Pick-up has been canceled at the Sports Basement.
Our timing company is operating 4 races this weekend, and will not be able to have a properly staffed USAT Registration Check-in or Timing Chips at the Sports Basement packet pick-up.
Packet pick-up will now be on Saturday, June 7 at Lake Almaden we have extended the hours to Noon - 6pm.
Sunday, race day starting at 5:30 am.
Swim: The 1.25K swim will start in waves. Special Note: All Clydesdales, Athenas and Mt. Bikes will go out with wave 11 at 7:40 AM.

- Wave 1: 7:00 AM Collegiate Championship/ Elites
- Wave 2: 7:04 AM Men 29 and Under
- Wave 3: 7:08 AM Men 30-34
- Wave 4: 7:12 AM Women 29 and Under
- Wave 5: 7:16 AM Women 30-34
- Wave 6: 7:20 AM Men 35-39
- Wave 7: 7:25 AM Men 40-49
- Wave 8: 7:28 AM Men 50 and Over
- Wave 9: 7:32 AM Women 35-39
- Wave 10: 7:36 AM Women 40 and Over
- Wave11: 7:40 AM All Relay Teams, Clydesdales and Athena and Mt. Bike Divisions
The water surface temperature will be between 68-70 degrees. Wetsuits are allowed. The swim will be 1.25K in total length. The course will be lined with large neon buoys, numerous lifeguards, kayak teams, San Jose Search and Rescue. The finish is on a beautiful, sandy beach.
Confirmed Triathletes: Arrive at least 1.5 hours early. This years event will begin promptly at 7:00 AM at Lake Almaden Park.
Bike Check: USAT NO LONGER REQUIRES A BIKE CHECK, However J&A highly recommends getting your bike checked and tuned prior to the race.
Champion Chip Timing: This race will be timed by using Champion Chip timing. It is the racers responsibility to wear the chip (worn on the ankle). The chip is waterproof so you can wear it on your ankle during the swim. If you are participating in a relay team, the swimmer passes the chip to the runner. The biker does not wear the chip. If you do not wear the chip during the entire event you will not be timed, or be able to get your splits!! For more info:

USA Triathlon:
All athletes will be required to have a one day license or an annual license through USA Triathlon to be able to race the San Jose International Triathlon. If you have an annual license you must bring it with you with a valid photo id in order to pick up your race packet, no exceptions! One day license can be purchased for $10.00 at Pre -Race packet pick up. For annual memberships please call the Triathlon Federation at (719) 597-9090 or log into their website at
www.usatriathlon.org. If you purchase an annual membership on line with USA Triathlon, you must bring your confirmation with you, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
Post Race Massage: The Sports massage services PERFORMANCE PLUS will provide massages for a nominal fee of $10/10 minutes, $20/20 minutes ($1/minute).
Body Marking: All athletes will be body marked. Hands, calves, arms and thighs will be marked. Body marking will be done race morning only. You will find volunteers in the transition area for body marking. It is the racers responsibility to get their body marked.
Transition Area: The transition area is first come first serve. The transition area is very well marked with signage. The only designated racks are Relay Teams, Triathlon Teams and Elite racers. Don't forget to bring a towel for your space.
Bike Course: There will be one water station on the bike course, at the top of Bailey. In your race packet there is 1 water bottle provided for your use for additional hydration.
Run Course: There will be water provided every mile, GU and Sports drink will also be at all water stations.
Preparing for Racing: Be sure to listen to race day announcers Jimmy Hunter and Brad Kearns for important announcements throughout the rest of your warm up.
Parking / Directions to Lake Almaden:
There will be three parking options for Lake Almaden for the San Jose International Triathlon. Athletes please allow additional 10-15 minutes from the three parking sites to get to the transition area.
Santa Clara Valley Water District, Almaden Light Rail Station, VTA Ohlone-Chynoweth Light Rail Station
Directions to park at the Santa Clara Valley Water District, Located at 5750 Almaden Expressway, San Jose, CA.: from Almaden Expressway, heading towards Almaden Lake Park make a left turn at Via Monte and the Santa Clara Water District parking is right there. Space is limited.
Directions to park at the Almaden Light Rail Station: from Almaden Expressway, heading towards Almaden Lake Park, make a left turn on Coleman, at light make a left turn on Winfield. Almaden Light Rail Station entrance is located on the left hand side of Winfield about a half a block down.
Participants who park at the VTA Ohlone-Chynoweth light rail station: will be required to take a 2 minute tram ride to Lake Almaden. Bikes will accompany your short ride. The cost is $2.50 round-trip. There will be no parking available at Lake Almaden on race day. For information on VTA schedules and Fares, check the VTA website at:

Directions to VTA Ohlone-Chynoweth Light Rail Station in San Jose:
(From Northern California using 101) Take Freeway 101 South. Take 280 South. Take Highway 87 South/Guadalupe Parkway. Exit at Santa Teresa, then make a right turn to Ohlone-Chynoweth Light Rail Station.
(From Northern California using 280) Take Freeway 280 South. Take 17 towards Los Gatos / Santa Cruz. Take 85 South towards Gilroy. Get off at Santa Teresa, then make a left onto Santa Teresa, then make a left into Ohlone-Chynoweth light rail station.
(From Southern California using 101) Take Freeway 101 North. Take Highway 85 North (Highway 85 officially runs North/South, at this location you can only go one way - 85 ends at Freeway 101). Exit Santa Teresa, then go across Santa Teresa into Ohlone-Chynoweth Light Rail Station.
(From East Bay) Take Freeway 880 South. Take Freeway 280 South. Get off at Highway 87 South/Guadalupe Parkway. Exit at Santa Teresa, then make a right turn to Ohlone-Chynoweth Light Rail Station.
Driving Directions to Lake Almaden:
(From San Francisco and the Peninsula) Take 280 towards San Jose. Take Highway 85 South towards Gilroy. Take the Almaden Expressway exit and at the light make an immediate left, then get into the right hand lane. Make a right hand turn on Almaden Expressway. Proceed on Almaden Expressway. Entrance to event is located on Almaden Expressway at the West Station Entrance (just past Coleman Ave.) Look for parking signs. Allow 1.2 hours of travel time.Entrance to event is located on Almaden Expressway at the West Station Entrance.
(From East Bay) Take 680 towards San Jose. Take 280 North to Highway 87 / Guadalupe Parkway. Take 87 South. Take the Santa Teresa Blvd. exit. Follow Santa Teresa Blvd. and make a right hand turn on Coleman Avenue. Take a left at Almaden Expressway. Look for parking signs. Entrance to event is located on Almaden Expressway at the West Station Entrance. Allow 1.0 hours of travel time.
(From Southern California) Take 101 North towards San Jose. Take 85 North to Almaden Expressway exit. Make a left on Almaden Expressway. Proceed on Almaden Expressway. Entrance to event is located on Almaden Expressway at the West Station Entrance (just past Coleman Ave). Allow ample travel time.

7:00 a.m. Start Time
All racers will finish at one of the Best Parties Around. Athletes will want to hang around as the festivities will just be getting underway. All participants will have the opportunity to eat free catered food. Race day announcers will keep all who attend informed of all the post-race festivities. There will also be a fantastic awards ceremony.
